Resident Evil Requiem Leon Kennedy is a hopeless loser in Switch 2 teaser during Nintendo Direct that makes him miss nearly every shot: "Are you censoring this one too?"

Leon Kennedy in Resident Evil: Requiem.

Special agent Leon Kennedy. In a creamy leather jacket. Smoldering. Aiming his gun at the ceiling like he's a baby who's been left alone for too long in the latest Nintendo Switch 2 preview for Resident Evil Requiem.

Something is severely wrong with this picture. Actually, several things are wrong: Why did this morning's Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase bring up Resident Evil if it wasn't going to show any blood? Are we supposed to be soothed by all those visibly ragged edges around the Green Herb? Who put my husband Leon in such an embarrassing situation? Watch the new Switch 2 trailer below and decide for yourself:

Some people have, I think, correctly determined that Nintendo wants to avoid demonstrating anything more violent than a Goomba stomp during its livestreams, since the developer has spent its recent history abandoning weird and embracing full family friendliness. The great Indiana Jones can't manage to sink a single bullet in his new Showcase trailer, either.

"Are you censoring this one too?" asks a comment under the YouTube listing for Resident Evil Requiem's Switch 2 preview. GamesRadar+ has reached out to Nintendo for comment.

Once you look past the choppy animations I didn't notice during my Resident Evil Requiem preview on PS5, you'll notice Nintendo Leon gritting his teeth and shooting directly left of a mutant's head, aiming down sights and firing straight into the dirt, or spin-attacking the air with a chainsaw.

"With his physical prowess," a trailer narrator adds. All right, I'll keep telling myself that.

Resident Evil Requiem won't suffer from RE6's multi-protagonist issues, director says, as Grace and Leon pair together like fish and rice: "We're the 'inventors of sushi' here."
