The Republic of Ireland face another tough Euro 2024 qualification assignment against the Netherlands tonight.
Stephen Kenny’s side host the Dutch in Dublin just three days after heading to Paris, where they suffered a third loss in four matches against France courtesy of goals from Aurelien Tchouameni and Marcus Thuram.
That result left Ireland - missing Brighton sensation Evan Ferguson due to a knee injury - sitting fourth in Group B with their hopes for a place in Germany next summer rapidly dwindling.
They need a result against the Netherlands, who sit second and nine points behind runaway leaders France after Marten de Roon, Cody Gakpo and Wout Weghorst all netted in a dominant 3-0 victory over rivals Greece in Eindhoven on Friday night.
