Report: TE Hunter Henry not expected to be cut by Patriots

March is set to be a busy month for teams across the NFL, as several will make cuts and signings with free agency beginning. The New England Patriots are not expected to cut tight end Hunter Henry, per a report from The Score’s Jordan Schultz.

Henry had a down year statistically for New England last season. He finished with 41 catches for 509 yards and two touchdowns in 17 games. The tight end position as a whole wasn’t utilized, as the Patriots offense stumbled throughout the year.

Henry was coming off a 2021 season that saw him be one of quarterback Mac Jones’ favorite weapons. He tallied 50 receptions for 603 yards and nine touchdowns in his first year with New England.

New offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien has been known to utilize his tight ends within the offense. Both Henry and Jonnu Smith need to have bounce-back seasons, as the New England offense looks to take the next step.
