Report: Superstar Rams WR Cooper Kupp ‘expected to miss some time’ with injury

Here’s something worth monitoring. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Monday that while Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp avoided a season-ending fracture on Sunday, further tests are ongoing to determine exactly how long he’ll be sidelined. But Rapoport says Kupp is “still expected to miss some time” with his ankle injury, making it increasingly likely that he won’t join his team for their upcoming game with the New Orleans Saints.

That’s big news for New Orleans, who need all the help they can get after losing four of their last five games. Kupp is as important to the Rams offense as any player around the league could hope to be — he’s accounted for 30.9% of their targets this year and 31.7% of them in 2021. A separate ankle sprain slowed him down earlier this season, but this injury appears more serious, and the Rams don’t have many other players who can step up to fill in for him.

And it’s no guarantee that the Rams will have starting quarterback Matthew Stafford available, either. He missed their Week 10 game while in the NFL concussion protocol. We’ll get a better idea of his availability once the initial injury report is published on Wednesday, so keep an eye out for updates. Like the Saints, the Rams are down this year with just three wins going into Week 11. But while they may be down, they’re far from out. This isn’t an opponent the Saints can afford to take lightly.
