We have yet another impact of the now-infamous Michigan vs. Michigan State football ‘tunnel incident’ from the 2022 season. On Monday, U-M spokesman Kurt Svoboda told Tony Garcia of the Detroit Free Press that the University will remove 45 seats from the stadium to create a larger entrance into the Lloyd Carr Tunnel.
Buy Spartans Tickets“It’s being done to widen access to the field for the competitors and all the game personnel that enter and exit from the tunnel,” Svoboda told Tony Garcia. “Our goal obviously is to ensure that safe and healthy environment for everybody who has to have access to the field.”
The Lloyd Carr Tunnel was the sight of the fight between Michigan and Michigan State, but it has also led to some hostilities between the Wolverines and rival programs. There was an altercation between Michigan players and Ohio State players back in 2021, and there was, of course, another now-infamous incident where Penn State players threw peanut butter and jelly sandwiches at Michigan players.
