Gillette Stadium is a finalist to host a future Army-Navy football game, per NBC10’s Joe Kayata.
The Kraft Sports and Entertainment Group put in a multi-year bid for 2023 through 2027. The Rhode Island Convention Center would host Navy, while Army would drive up on the day of the game from West Point, New York.
The first meeting in the series was held on November 29, 1890. There have been 122 total meetings in the series, with Navy holding a 62-53-7 margin. Navy has the longest win streak in the series with 14 straight victories from 2002-2015.
Most recently, Navy won by a 17-13 margin on December 11, 2021. This year’s game will be held at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Gillette Stadium could be a fascinating backdrop for one of the greatest rivalries in college football. As for now, the waiting game begins.
