The Eagles have decided to promote quarterbacks coach Brian Johnson to fill the role of offensive coordinator, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Tuesday.
Johnson served as the quarterbacks coach for the last two seasons, working with Jalen Hurts for two out of the three years that the 2020 second-round draft pick has been in the league. Schefter reported that Johnson had opportunities to leave the Eagles for other offensive coordinator positions in the league, but ultimately chose to stay in Philadelphia.
Johnson will replace the Eagles’ former offensive coordinator, Shane Steichen, who was recently hired by the Colts as their new head coach. Steichen spent the last two seasons with the Eagles, meaning Johnson worked solely under him during his time in Philadelphia so far.
