Report card: Eagles top Lions, 38-35 in Week 1

The Eagles successfully started the 2022 season as winners, coming away with a 38-35 road victory against the Detroit Lions in front of a sold-out crowd at Ford Field.

Philadelphia is now 10-2 in Week 1 games since the 2010 season, making the Monday night showdown against the Vikings in Week 2 even more exciting.

Jalen Hurts totaled almost 350 yards of offense on a day when he was pressured off the edge and unable to develop a rhythm within any pass catchers outside of A.J. Brown and Dallas Goedert.

On defense, the Eagles were gashed on the ground and unable to rekindle the 2021 pressure on Jared Goff, failing to sack the Lions quarterback.

With focus turning to the Vikings, here are the grades for Week 1.

The inability to get anyone outside of A.J. Brown involved in the passing game was troubling, but it’s only Week 1.

A.J. Brown was spectacular, logging 10-catches for 155-yards.

The rest was unsettling as DeVonta Smith was targeted four times and had a reception wiped away because of a penalty, while Quez Watkins wasn’t targeted at all.
