The Buckeyes made quick decisions on who they wanted to target in the transfer portal along the offensive line, Rhode Island’s Ajani Cornelius and UTEP’s Jeremiah Byers. Both big men were offered scholarships this weekend and Ryan Day along with offensive line coach Justin Frye have made a big enough impression with each of them that they will visit Columbus this weekend according to a report by 247Sports and by FOX’s Bruce Feldman.
This development is a very interesting one, as yesterday I postulated that both current starting tackles, Paris Johnson Jr. and Dawand Jones could be leaving Ohio State with eligibility remaining. Day is hedging his bets, which makes a ton of sense as the tackle position is the most important along the offensive line.
URI OT Ajani Cornelius has gone from 0-star recruit to the hottest commodity in The Portal. He’s visited Nebraska & Oregon. This weekend he visits Tennessee & Ohio State. My story on his mercurial rise to stardom that’s actually been years in the making: https://t.co/wMAEaDfs4S

This is a nice contrast from what the Buckeyes have done previously with the portal, as they have watched other teams use it to fortify their rosters. But back to the tackles, since getting them on campus for a visit is a huge first step in their recruitment, expect Ohio State to be contenders for their verbal commitments when each of them make their choice.
