Concerns over Joe Burrow's calf injury have led the Bengals to fortify their quarterback depth.
Cincinnati signed Reid Sinnett to its practice squad on Friday, as reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The San Diego product, 26, has familiarity with the Bengals’ offense after participating in the team’s training camp.
Sinnett hasn’t appeared in an NFL game, but has been on the roster with the Dolphins (twice), Eagles, and Buccaneers. He also spent time with the XFL’s San Antonio Brahmas.
Burrow’s status for Cincinnati’s Week 3 Monday night matchup versus the Rams is uncertain. On Thursday, Bengals coach Zac Taylor told reporters that the Pro Bowler was “day-to-day.” Later, Burrow himself said “We'll see” when asked about his ability to play.
If Burrow can’t start Monday night, Jake Browning is expected to get the nod for the Bengals. Sinnett would likely be the backup QB under that scenario.
