Renewed calls to dual road between England and Edinburgh after surge in fatalities

RENEWED calls have been made to upgrade the main road link between England and Edinburgh after a surge in fatalities on single carriageway sections in Northumberland.

The dualling of the section of the A1 immediately south of the Scottish Border in Northumberland was cancelled after the Westminster budget in October 2024.
