Renan Lodi drops big hint on Nottingham Forest future with emotional message

Renan Lodi has posted what could be seen as a farewell message to Nottingham Forest fans on social media.

The Brazilian left-back ended his loan spell at the City Ground after making 32 appearances in total, scoring once.

The 25-year-old is set to return to Atletico Madrid but would be welcomed back by Forest fans given his contribution to keeping the club in the Premier League.

However, that may not happen and his post on Instagram after the 1-1 draw at Crystal Palace could easily be seen as a goodbye to supporters.

He wrote: "Last game with this special club, that received me with kindness and professionalism. I would like to thank every one, employees, athletes and fans, for all your support. I will always be Red!"

The 25-year-old joined on loan last summer in order to try and gate-crash Brazil's World Cup squad, but his early form was patchy and he missed out on travelling to Qatar.

However he responded superbly to that rejection and became one of Forest's most consistent performers. Forest had an agreement in place to sign Lodi for around £25m but his future could lie elsewhere.

Lodi became a father in recent weeks and his family was not with him in Nottingham. If he does not return, Forest already have Harry Toffolo and Omar Richards in place.
