
Mourners in a remote Canadian town are building a memorial of flowers, lights and stuffed animals as the community copes with a mass shooting that killed eight people, mostly children, in addition to the 18-year-old shooter who died from an apparent self-inflicted wound.
Young children, teenagers, parents and grandparents huddled against the cold and the grief at a vigil the day after Tuesday’s killing spree in the British Columbia district of Tumbler Ridge, with the mayor telling mourners, “It’s OK to cry.”
