Newcastle United loanee Elliot Anderson sealed an unbelievable 7-0 victory for Bristol Rovers in the final day of the League Two season. Joey Barton’s side started the afternoon in fourth, level on points with Northampton Town but behind on goal difference by five.
Northampton won 3-1 at Barrow but an incredible 7-0 win for Bristol Rovers sealed their place in League One next season, thanks to having scored more goals, despite having never been in the top three until that moment.
And it was Geordie lad Anderson who won it in the 85th-minute, sending the Memorial Stadium into raptures and causing a premature pitch invasion that ended up warranting 25 minutes of stoppage-time.

When the final whistle eventually went, the blue and white of the Rovers faithful mobbed the players on the pitch, creating jubilant scenes with Anderson at the heart.
And Newcastle United fans took to Twitter to have their say on the 19-year-old.
@TweetingBeck said: "Absolutely remarkable what Bristol Rovers have just done. 7-0 win to pip Northampton to promotion! Football is a crazy game sometimes. On a NUFC level, Elliot Anderson looks like one hell of a player too."
@gw850 tweeted: "Elliot Anderson has had an unbelievable loan, and will be a fantastic player for us. The calls for him to be in our first team squad next season however are ridiculous. He needs game time, not the odd 5 minutes here and there. The Prem and League 2 are worlds apart."
@alexwooda392 said: "Really would love to see Elliot Anderson with these next season. Another loan move somewhere is definitely needed. An exciting youth project amongst us at #NUFC this is new!"
@DaveWil1980 tweeted: "Newcastle fans are a special breed, loads of us buzzing because a club where one of our players is on loan has won automatic promotion! Elliot Anderson is some player, can’t wait to see him tearing it up in a Newcastle shirt in the future. #nufc #brfc #utg"
@SamCalley tweeted: "Elliot Anderson. What a generational baller."
@eddieVF said: "ELLIOT ANDERSON. REMEMBER THE NAME!"
