Regan Gascoigne was one of the celebrities alongside Stef Reid, Liberty Poole, Ben Foden and Connor Ball to make his Dancing on Ice debut last Sunday, January 23.
The ballet dancer took to the rink for the first time with professional partner Karina Manta, skating to Sam Smith's Too Good At Goodbyes, wowing not just viewers and the judges but his family as well.
Regan, who performed with sister Bianca Gascoigne and mum Sheryl watching on from the audience, is the son of former England midfielder Paul "Gazza" Gascoigne.
Having grown up in the spotlight, Regan’s previously strained relationship with his dad over the years is a well-documented one. However, father and son have grown closer over the years.
Here’s everything you need to know about Regan’s close bond with his family – especially his dad and sister.
Is Regan's relationship with his dad strained?
Paul Gascoigne played for Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur and England. He famously battled mental health issues and alcohol addiction, leaving his family when Regan – his youngest child- was still just a baby.
When he appeared in a documentary aged 12, Regan said of his dad: "If I could wish, I’d wish that he would go away from us. He’s probably going to die soon. Because he’s the top player doesn’t mean he’s a good dad or good person to be with, does it, really?"
Father and son have managed to fix their relationship over the years, with Gazza recently telling The Sun that the pair have left the past behind and now spend time together "as mates".
Both of them are said to have bonded over their shared obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) diagnosis, with Paul also being supportive of his son when he came out as bisexual in 2019.
About his son's sexuality, Paul said: "It didn’t bother us one bit. It’s just who he is and that’s the end of it, it’s not a problem. Why should it be? Even if he was having an affair with a dolphin, it still wouldn’t bother us."
Is Regan close to his sister Bianca?
Regan’s sister Bianca Gascoigne was in the audience along with their mum Sheryl, cheering him on as he made his Dancing on Ice debut.
Celebrity Big Brother star Bianca spoke to host Holly Willoughby after her brother's performance, describing it as "just stunning" adding that she and her mum were "bursting with pride".
Before his performance, a clip of Regan with his dad was shown, where Paul was seen breaking down telling his son how proud he was of him before giving him a hug.
His routine really impressed judges Oti Mabuse, Jayne Torvill, Christopher Dean and Ashley Banjo - who noted that he had even inherited his fancy footwork from his dad.
