Reece Rodger's heartbroken family have thanked those who searched for the missing dad 'from the bottom of their hearts' as they revealed his funeral details.
The 28-year-old was last seen at Loch Rannoch in Perthshire on Saturday, March 18, while enjoying a camping trip away with friends. The alarm was raised after his pals were unable to find him the following morning - sparking major land and water searches in a bid to find the dad-of-two.
A body was discovered in the search for the Rosyth dad on Saturday, May 27. Following the devastating news his partner Paula Airzee paid tribute to her 'soul mate' as she thanked those who helped find him, adding that he would finally be 'coming home'.
On Sunday afternoon Paula made her final post on a Facebook page which was set up to help find Reece as she revealed that everyone would be welcome at his funeral.
She said: "Firstly, thank you from the bottom of our hearts to everyone involved in the search for Reece. There are too many people to mention due to the sheer amount of support we’ve had, but please know you got us through the past few months.
"Your generosity and kindness has been overwhelming and you made a very difficult situation in our life a little easier. We will never forget you. We love you all."
Paula went to reveal that Reece's funeral will take place at Dunfermline Crematorium at 1.15pm on Friday, June 16. She said that everyone is welcome to join them "to celebrate Reece’s precious 28 years". Those attending are asked to wear bright colours while donations collected will be given to Beneath the Surface, a charity supporting trauma recovery.
In what will be Paula's final post on the Facebook page, she added: "As you can imagine, our grief is unimaginable and we need to take time to process it all and grieve as a family. Reece’s FB page has been pivotal in our search for him and now we have him - there will be no further updates.
"Take care of you and your loved ones. Thank you will never be enough."
Police Scotland confirmed the tragic update last weekend and said a report had been submitted to the procurator fiscal.
A force spokesperson said: “Around 10.45 am on Saturday, May 27, 2023, the body of a man was discovered on the north shore of Loch Rannoch.
“Although the deceased has yet to be formally identified, the family of Fife man Reece Rodger (28), who was last seen on the north shore of Loch Rannoch on Saturday, March 18, 2023, has been made aware.”
