Red Bull Salzburg troll Graham Potter after denying new Chelsea boss first victory

Red Bull Salzburg took to Twitter just minutes after their 1-1 draw against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge had finished to poke fun at new Blues boss Graham Potter.

The tweet was of course linking the recently-appointed Chelsea manager with the protagonist of seven-part fantasy series Harry Potter. It read: "Did what Voldemort couldn't and got a result against Potter," followed by a thumbs up emoji and accompanying a picture of Noah Okafor celebrating.

As first games as boss go, Potter would have undeniably been hoping for a better start as Chelsea didn't quite reap the benefits of a 'new manager bounce'. His side did take the lead, with Raheem Sterling netting the first goal of the Potter-era but it wasn't enough to reigster a first win of the group stage.

Salzburg star Okafor's equaliser ensured the honours ended even. Chelsea now sit on one point in their group after two games played, their first coming in the form of a 1-0 defeat by Dinamo Zagreb that proved to be the final game with ex-boss Thomas Tuchel at the helm.

The Blues now sit bottom of their group and have the tricky task of back-to-back contests against Italian giants AC Milan up next. Potter has already conceded there is plenty of frustration within his ranks as a result of the draw.

“We can’t lie, it is not the position we want to be in but we have to respond, it’s as simple as that. It is going to be a tough group, I think," the new manager explained. "But there’s enough quality in the team and the squad to respond and we have to look forward to those games.

"You can feel the frustration, we're disappointed but it's my job to help the players get the results we want.

"It has not been easy for the boys, they have responded to us really well over the last few days and it's a point we will have to take and get better. The attitude has been fantastic, no complaints apart from the fact we have not taken three points.

"It's always irritating when you concede a goal. Overall the defensive performance was quite good, it's just the little details we will have to improve."

Eyebrows were raised when Chelsea's goalscorer Sterling looked particularly frustrated to be withdrawn shortly before the full-time whistle, but the England international explained what he was annoyed with during his post-match media duties.

"It's a bad result in the end but we played some good football at times. I took the chance but we have to finish the job off. It felt like we were in control, but one chance one goal for them. Under a new manager we will get better and keep progressing," he added.

"We have got a big game coming up next [in the Champions League - at home against AC Milan] and we need to get a win from that."
