Red Bull have extended Isack Hadjar’s contract, keeping him alongside Max Verstappen for 2027.
The announcement on Wednesday comes as Hadjar prepares for this week's Azerbaijan Grand Prix after missing three Formula 1 races with a wrist injury.
"The period since his injury has been a difficult one for Isack, but this extension is a testament to how much we believe in him and we can’t wait to see him back out on track," Red Bull team principal Laurent Mekies said.
The French driver remains eighth in the standings despite his layoff. He has shown consistency, finishing top six in his last seven outings, but has rarely challenged four-time champion Verstappen's pace.
Mekies said Hadjar had been "superb on and off track" since moving from sister team Racing Bulls after a strong 2025 rookie season, "which made extending his contract an easy decision".
Verstappen, who signed a contract extension until 2030 last month, will now keep the same team-mate for a second season - a first since Sergio Perez was dropped at the end of 2024. Red Bull let Liam Lawson go after two races in 2025, with replacement Yuki Tsunoda dropped at the end of last season.
"From the moment I signed, I set out to dedicate myself to the team, and with the support of Laurent and everyone in (Red Bull headquarters at) Milton Keynes, I’ve been able to justify the faith they’ve had in me," Hadjar said.
In Hadjar’s absence in recent weeks, Lawson filled in at the Dutch, Italian and Spanish Grands Prix, with Tsunoda stepping back into the sport to cover Lawson's regular position at Racing Bulls.
However, Hadjar will be back to compete in Azerbaijan this weekend, with Red Bull confirming his participation on Tuesday.
A statement from Red Bull read: "Oracle Red Bull Racing is delighted to welcome Isack back this weekend. Having made a successful recovery from his wrist injury, Isack will return to action at the Baku City Circuit on Thursday,"
It added: "The team would sincerely like to thank Liam for this professionalism, dedication and hard work over the past three races. Stepping in under challenging circumstances, he delivered some impressive performances and made a valuable contribution to the team. We wish him all the very best as he returns to Visa Cash App Racing Bulls."
