The State government should reconsider its decision to steeply increase the power tariff under various slabs, and if it doesn’t, Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy will suffer a “political shock” as a consequence, says CPI(M) State secretary V. Srinivasa Rao.
Mr. Srinivasa Rao, who was in the city on Wednesday, criticised the Andhra Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission’s (APERC) announcement of accepting the increase in power tariffs proposed by the distribution companies (Discoms) from August 1.
He said the common man was badly affected by the “anti-people” policies of the governments.
While the Centre had effected a steep rise in the fuel prices, seven times in the last eight days, besides increasing the price of LPG cylinder by ₹50, the YSRCP government increased the number of slabs and tariffs for a majority of the consumers.
He called upon the people to join the CPI(M) in the fight against the steep rise in the prices of power and petroleum products on April 4.
