New England Patriots corner Jonathan Jones popped up on the injury report Thursday afternoon, and he was also absent from Friday’s practice as well.
Understandably, it caused concerns for Patriots fans with Jones being a key member of the secondary. However, a new report might indicate that fans can put those fears to rest.
Buy Patriots TicketsBoston Sports Journal’s Mike Giardi indicated that Jones was taking a veteran rest day.
Jones was a big part of New England’s defense last week, playing in 80 percent of the snaps. He has managed to carve out a role over the years as a cornerstone of the defense. He will undoubtedly be put to the test this week, with the Miami Dolphins possessing potent offensive weapons.
It appears he will be ready to go, per Giardi, as transcribed by NESN.com’s Dakota Randall.
Jones, who battled injuries late in training camp, simply was taking a veteran rest day, according to Mike Giardi of Boston Sports Journal. New England didn’t have “any real worry” about Jones as of Thursday evening.
Giardi’s latest report is a welcome one, but it didn’t mention Jones being out on Friday, too. So is this a situation where Jones had two consecutive veteran rest days?
Patriots fans can only hope that’s the case.
