Recall Alert: 48,000 Toyota Tacomas May Lose Shock Reservoirs

  • Toyota recalled 48,280 Tacoma TRD Off-Road trucks (2024–2025), including 4,453 2024 Hybrid TRD Off-Roads.
  • Corrosion at the welded flange can let the Bilstein shock's external oil reservoir separate and fall off while driving.
  • Dealers will inspect and replace corroded shocks free; owners can confirm inclusion via Toyota or NHTSA VIN lookup.

Toyota has filed a new NHTSA safety recall covering 48,280 Tacoma trucks after finding that the external oil reservoirs on the Bilstein shock absorbers can corrode and separate from the damper body. The campaign, numbered 26V514, covers certain 2024–2025 Tacoma trucks equipped with those shocks, and the full report is posted on NHTSA’s site.
