Rebeca Andrade, the defending Olympic champion in this event, showcased her readiness to challenge Simone Biles with an impressive performance. In a thrilling display of skill and athleticism, Andrade matched Biles' Cheng vault by executing two flips with twists while soaring through the air.
Andrade's first vault earned her a score of 15.100, surpassing the score Biles received for her Cheng vault earlier in the competition. This strong start put Andrade in a favorable position as she prepared for her second vault.
