Country music legend Reba McEntire is making a triumphant return to television with a new comedy series titled Happy’s Place. Over 17 years since her hit sitcom Reba ended, McEntire is set to star in and sing the theme song for the upcoming show.
The enduring theme song of Reba, titled “I’m a Survivor,” was performed by McEntire and remains popular to this day, even being featured on platforms like TikTok and Instagram. Happy’s Place, which reunites McEntire with the executive producers of Reba, has been given a series order by NBC and is expected to premiere later this year.
In the new comedy, McEntire will portray Bobbie, who inherits her late father’s restaurant and discovers she must become business partners with a half-sister she never knew existed. Joining McEntire in the cast are Belissa Escobedo as her half-sister Isabella and Melissa Peterman, McEntire's former Reba costar, as a bartender at the restaurant.
Expressing her excitement for the project, McEntire shared, “Ever since we stopped doing Reba, we’ve been looking for another project to do. I love the sitcom genre. Out of all the things I do, this is my favorite.”
The chemistry between the cast members was evident during the filming of the pilot, with McEntire describing the experience as feeling like a “second season first episode” rather than a pilot. Peterman also highlighted the ease of reuniting with McEntire after 17 years, emphasizing their enduring friendship since the end of Reba.
Happy’s Place is scheduled to premiere on Friday, October 18, on NBC, promising a delightful return to television for Reba McEntire fans and sitcom enthusiasts alike.
