Real Madrid reportedly rejected the opportunity to sign Manchester City defender Joao Cancelo in January.
MEN Sport confirmed on Monday that the Blues were planning to let Joao Cancelo go to Bayern Munich for the rest of the season with an option included to sell the Portuguese defender to the Bundesliga giants at the end of the campaign. On deadline day, City confirmed that the 28-year-old had completed his temporary switch to Germany.
However, according to ABC in Spain, Cancelo was offered to Real this winter by his agent. It is reported that Carlo Ancelotti was not interested in City's man and has stressed that he does not want to bring anyone to the Bernabeu in the winter.

This stance is despite right-back injuries to Daniel Carvajal and Lucas Vasquez. Elsewhere, new Everton manager Sean Dyche has reportedly made a last-ditch attempt to sign City midfielder Kalvin Phillips on loan.
Phillips, like Cancelo, has struggled for game time in recent months. Firstly, his injury in the early stages of the season pushed back his efforts to break into the first team.
Once fully fit, the former Leeds man has found it difficult to surpass Rodri in Pep Guardiola's plans. The Sun claims that Dyche sees Phillips as the perfect player to spearhead his midfield however City have refused to negotiate on a loan move.
Guardiola is said to be keen on keeping Phillips ahead of a busy schedule. The Blues will be fighting on three fronts next month with the Champions League's return adding more fixtures to City's list.
