Real Madrid Faces Injury Woes Ahead Of 2024/2025 Season

Real Madrid

Real Madrid has been hit with a series of unfortunate injury setbacks as they prepare for the upcoming 2024/2025 campaign. Head coach Carlo Ancelotti faces challenges with key players sidelined due to ACL ruptures.

Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois and center back Eder Militao both suffered ACL injuries last season, with Courtois picking up the injury in training before the start of the season, and Militao succumbing to the same fate during a match against Athletic Club.

In the absence of Courtois, Andriy Lunin has admirably filled in as the goalkeeper for Real Madrid. The defensive line has also been reshuffled, with Ancelotti having to rotate between Alaba, Nacho, and Antonio Rudiger due to Militao's injury.

Unfortunately, David Alaba joined the injury list in December, sustaining an ACL tear in his left knee, ruling him out for the remainder of the season and potentially until 2025. Reports from Austrian sources suggest that Alaba may not return to action until next year, leaving a significant gap in Madrid's defense.

With uncertainties surrounding Alaba's recovery timeline, Real Madrid is reportedly considering a move for Lille's Leny Yoro. The 18-year-old has attracted interest from Madrid, with a bid of around $37.8 million already made. However, competition from Manchester United, who have reportedly offered $54 million plus bonuses for Yoro, adds complexity to the potential transfer.

Regardless of the outcome of the Yoro transfer saga, Alaba's eventual return to the pitch will be eagerly anticipated by Real Madrid fans and the Spanish media. His comeback is likely to be hailed as a 'new signing' for the La Liga and Champions League champions.

Real Madrid faces challenges in reshaping their squad ahead of the new season, with injuries forcing Ancelotti to explore alternative options to maintain their competitive edge in domestic and European competitions.
