'Real-life Billy Elliot' set for stardom after joining prestigious dance school

A real-life Billy Elliot is set for stardom after joining a prestigious dance school - thanks to his mum who went the extra mile to get him in.

Jane Roberts, 42, said her son, William, had always been a dancer and described him as a 'little mover' when he was young, as Cheshire Live reports.

As a toddler, William just had to hear the beat of a drum for him to bust out his dance moves - and Jane instantly saw his potential.

Now, William is one step closer to becoming a professional dancer as he's joined The Hammond, a specialist school in performing arts, after his mum moved to the area to get him in.

What do you think about William's incredible dance moves? Let us know in the comments...

Jane said: "He has always been a little mover, since he was tiny. He'd hear music and would be moving, so it gave me the idea that I should get him into dance because it was so natural with him.

"I did try when he was three or four, but he would just cry. I couldn't leave him. I gave it a break and then at around six or seven he started taking ballet lessons and he did tap as well."

The family lived in Lancaster before moving to Ellesmere Port, Cheshire, with Jane saying that it was dance that 'brought us here'.

She said: "So he had various schools, and I could just tell that he had something extra, so I wanted to find him a really good school that would bring his potential out.

"It was his teacher that suggested William go for The Hammond. I am completely naive to all this, it's not been a plan, it's all just natural.

"So we just went for The Hammond, but I now know that typical dance mums will go for every single school in the country, so we were just lucky he got in there and got the government scholarship."

The 13-year-old has been accepted onto the Masters of Ballet Easter Course in April, and he has also been invited to spend three days at Kings International Ballet School in Leicester this month.

Jane said she is struggling to find the money to get him there and a hotel, but she doesn't want her son to miss out because of his family's financial situation, so she has set up a GoFundMe to help William.
