Real Housewives of Cheshire star defends herself over 'insulting' question about money as she asks 'did I just get asked this?'

The Real Housewives of Cheshire star Rachel Lugo was applauded by fans as she defended herself over an 'insulting' question. Rachel was taken aback and asked 'really did I just get asked this?' as she was asked about her car.

"Nice car!! … what does your husband do??" she exclaimed in a powerful Instagram post. "Really did I just get asked this? Is this day and age?" she asked.

As she shared a video montage showing her hard at work in all aspects of her life mother-of-five Rachel clapped back: "I’ve worked damn hard for every single thing I have. From my paper round at 11, washing up in pubs at 13, flipping burgers in McDonald’s at 15 just so I could buy myself things if I wanted to without depending on anyone else … and that’s never changed I’ve always worked ...I even traded on the stock market for over 7 years."

She continued: "We had £3000 in our first house …There was no trust fund or pot of gold just damn hard work. It’s insulting for anyone to assume I have nice things because they were given to me. I work every single day …weekends, bank holidays, even when I’m on holiday."

She said: ""I support my family, I pay all my bills … so think twice before you ask me who bought that for me because the chances are my answer will be … I DID!!" Interiors business owner Rachel, who joined the ITVBe reality show in 2017, added emphatically: "Oh and I don’t have a husband!!!"

Her Real Housewives co-star, Atomic Kitten singer Natasha Hamilton praised: "This post is absolute (flame emoji)." And laurate14 replied: "My favourite one is when you go out out and people say where’s your child who is looking after them… is your husband babysitting - aww that’s nice!!!! It’s not babysitting he’s the other parent!!!

Lauraegowan told her: "I get asked this all the time. I’m a Barrister and worked damn hard to be. What I have, I have earned myself. Good on you for doing the same."

Ethelm1983 said: "I was on holiday in Hawaii once (paid for by myself as for everything I have ever had in life) and 2 fellow guests (male) INFORMED ME that I MUST HAVE a rich dad or husband to be on such nice holiday.

"I have never been married, my father has been dead for years (I used to send money to him + mum by the way) and had been single for a long time at the time. My blood is still boiling today ..."

Joanna Lawson applauded: "Absolutely shocking this is still a perception. Well done for posting this!" And shazzyhotpink cheered: "Respect!! Rachell .. Adore everything about you & a single Mum aint easy."

Charlotte Kaleigh exclaimed: "Love this! Why do people always assume money comes from men!!" And deirdredoes joked: "Nice car, what does your husband do? He sometimes gets to drive it."

Janlawry told her: "So good to read these comments! I thought I was the only one to be asked 'do you work in your husband's company' or 'oh, your husband lets you drive his car.'

"Er, no. I have my own 6-figure award winning company, buy my own car, and every possession I have I've worked for. As others have said, here's to powerful successful women!"
