Family Farmstead Dairy of Worcester, New York, is recalling its 8-ounce Raw Mild Cheddar Cheese after testing of a Maryland sample found two strains of Shiga toxin-producing E. coli (STEC), according to the company's notice posted by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The company announced the recall Oct. 15.

The cheese was sold to grocers in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Connecticut, Maryland, Virginia, and Massachusetts. The company said it may also have reached other states through downstream distributors.
