Ravens LB Trenton Simpson on having DC Zach Orr as coach: ‘It’s been great’

The Baltimore Ravens hired defensive coordinator Zach Orr to take over their defensive unit following Mike Macdonald’s departure to the Seattle Seahawks. The former Baltimore inside linebacker will be tasked with keeping the unit one of the best in the league, with plenty of star power and young talent to do so.

When asked about Orr and having him be the team’s new defensive coordinator, inside linebacker Trenton Simpson said it’s been a great process. He mentioned that Orr had been with him since his rookie season as the inside linebackers coach and that he could communicate with him as a player.

“It’s been great. Just [from defensive coordinator Zach Orr] being able to be my linebackers coach my rookie year to seeing him grow and be the defensive coordinator, and me just growing up under him, it’s been awesome. I’ve been able to communicate with him as a player and just off the field, so it’s been great.”

Orr played for three seasons with the Ravens before his career was cut short due to injury. While he has no play-calling experience, his time as a player should help him immensely as he embarks on this new journey.
