A little over a month after being voted as the AFC's fourth alternate for the Pro Bowl at his position, Ravens quarterback Tyler Huntley is headed to Las Vegas.
Huntley was formally named to the Pro Bowl roster early Tuesday morning, replacing Bills quarterback Josh Allen. Per ESPN's Alaina Getzenberg, Allen is scheduled to compete in this week's AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
As Baltimore quarterback Lamar Jackson's backup for the majority of this season, Huntley ranks as one of the most unlikely Pro Bowlers in recent history. In six games during the 2022 regular season—mostly in relief of Jackson after his Dec. 4 PCL injury—Huntley threw for 658 yards with two touchdowns against three interceptions. He started the Ravens’ wild-card game against the Bengals on Jan. 15, throwing two touchdowns but losing a key fumble in Cincinnati’s 24–17 win.
The Pro Bowl has been reorganized for 2023 as the “Pro Bowl Games,” a multi-discipline event overseen by Peyton and Eli Manning’s Omaha Productions company. The competition will culminate in a flag football game, contested between the AFC and NFC as is tradition.
