Rates of Covid-19 have gone up in all ten boroughs of Greater Manchester for the second day in a row.

Stockport continues to have the highest coronavirus infection rate in the region, with the borough recording a rate of 309.0 cases per 100,000 people in the week ending March 5, according to the latest data from the UK Health Security Agency.

The lowest infection rate is in Rochdale, where the rate is 154.7 cases per 100,000 people.

However, like Tuesday, none of the boroughs in our area are above the England average of 369.3 cases per 100,000 people.

In Greater Manchester as a whole, the infection rate is now 223.9 cases per 100,000 population.

A total of 6,348 people tested positive for coronavirus across Greater Manchester in the week which ended on March 5. The Greater Manchester weekly total has increased by 1,252 cases compared to the previous week, which means the infection rate was up 25 percent in the last week.

The infection rate is lower than the national average in all ten local authorities in Greater Manchester.

Hospital admissions

In the week ending on February 27, a total of 308 patients were admitted to Greater Manchester NHS hospitals with Covid-19. That is ten fewer than the week before, a fall of three percent.

On Tuesday March 1, there were 14 Mechanical Ventilation (MV) beds occupied by Covid patients in Greater Manchester NHS hospitals. That is 10 fewer than a week earlier.

This is the most recent available data for hospital admissions, the figures for NHS trusts are not updated daily.

Deaths

In the week ending March 5, a total of 24 people died within 28 days of a positive Covid test across Greater Manchester, which is 1 more than the week before.

Since the start of the pandemic, there have been a total of 907,346 confirmed coronavirus cases in Greater Manchester. There have been a total of 8,791 deaths.

In Bolton , the number of cases is up by 20 percent compared to the previous week - leaving the infection rate at 184.2 cases per 100,000 population.

There were 531 positive Covid-19 tests in Bolton in the week ending March 5, which was 90 more than the previous 7 days.

The trend is up in Salford , where there were 582 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending March 5, which is 50 more than the previous 7 days. That is up by 9 percent compared to the previous week.

The latest infection rate in Salford is 221.5 cases per 100,000 people, which is lower than the national average.

Manchester recorded 1,245 coronavirus cases, which is 212 more than in the previous seven days.

The latest infection rate in Manchester is 224.0 cases per 100,000 people and that is up 21 percent week-on-week.

In Bury , the latest infection rate is 253.8 cases per 100,000 people and the number of cases has gone up by 29 percent.

A total of 484 people tested positive for Covid in Bury over the seven days ending on March 5, which is 108 more than the week before.

There was a rise of 44 percent in cases in Wigan over the week ending March 5, and the infection rate is now 206.8 cases per 100,000 population.

Wigan recorded 684 positive Covid-19 tests over the seven-day period, and that is 209 more than the previous week.

Oldham is an area where the trend is up. The latest infection rate here is 173.0 cases per 100,000 people.

There were 411 cases recorded in Oldham, which is 91 more than the previous week - a rise of 28 percent.

There were 686 positive tests over the last week in Trafford , which is 152 more than in the previous week.

The week-on-week trend in Trafford is up by 28 percent and the latest infection rate is 288.7 cases per 100,000 people.

Rochdale , which has the lowest infection rate in the region, recorded 346 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending March 5, which is 34 more than the previous 7 days.

The coronavirus infection rate in Rochdale is now 154.7 cases per 100,000 people and is up by 11 percent week-on-week.

In Stockport , there were 909 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending March 5, which is 220 more than the previous 7 days.

Stockport has the highest infection rate in the region. The infection rate in Stockport is up slightly compared with the previous day and the week-on-week trend is up by 32 percent.

Tameside saw a total of 470 cases in the week ending March 5, which is 86 more than the previous week. That is a rise of 22 percent.

In Tameside, the most recent coronavirus infection rate is now 206.9 cases per 100,000 people.
