Everton were beaten 2-0 by Manchester United on Saturday afternoon, goals from Scott McTominay and Anthony Martial proving pivotal.
A fast-paced first half saw the hosts create a number of chances, most of which Jordan Pickford was equal to as he kept the Blues in the game. The breakthrough did eventually arrive in the 36th minute, however, with McTominay firing past the Everton goalkeeper from inside the area.
There were promising signs Sean Dyche's side could work way their way back into the game at the start of the second half, but Martial ended any hope of a comeback after capitalising on a Seamus Coleman slip.
