MUMBAI: In the alleged illegal phone tapping case against IPS officer and former state intelligence chief Rashmi Shukla, a police officer had raised a red flag over her action while a senior IAS officer said he was misled into giving sanction, according to a chargesheet filed by the police.
Assistant commissioner of police K B Irani had twice warned Shukla against tapping phones of public representatives saying it was improper. Besides, then additional chief secretary (home) Sanjay Kumar in his reply to the police has said that he as well as the chairman and members of the review committee had instructed officers not to keep mobile numbers of people's representatives under surveillance unless for an important and valid reason.
