A "never before seen" £2 coin featuring an error is being flogged online for £2,000.
The unique coin was issued in 2022 to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the FA Cup. Overall, it looks similar to other £2 coins which are bi-metallic, featuring the standard gold-coloured ring comprised of Nickel-brass and a silver-coloured centre made of Cupro-nickel.
However, the error on the coin means the design has been completely minted with one type of metal, making it look like it's all a single colour. The coin still features an image of the FA Cup trophy and the dates 1871-1872 and 2021-2022 and is being sold in its original collective pack issued by the Royal Mint, the Mirror reports.

The owner of the extremely rare coin has listed it on eBay with an asking price of £2,000. Its on-site description reads: "Rare Mono Error Coin 2022 FA Cup £2 Royal Mint Coin Bunc.
"Rare error straight from the mint this mono £2 coin is basically all gold missing the silver bit. Never seen another."
Colin Bellamy, owner of change checking website Coin Hunter, said: “I think it’s a great find – single metal £2 coin errors are very rare. What adds to the appeal here is the subject matter and the fact it passed inspection at The Royal Mint to be sealed in a pack and sent out to a customer.”
Error coins are extremely valuable to collectors because they are either extremely rare, or in some cases, one-of-a-kind.
Expets say anyone looking to buy a rare coin should always be wary and do their research first before buying. Websites and Facebook groups like Coin Hunter can help you work out if a coin is real or not, and the Royal Mint will also verify rare coins.
