People are being urged to check their change after the rarest coins have been revealed.
The findings, by website Change Checker, are based on the latest Scarcity Index and reveals the rarest 10p, 50p and £2 coins. The lists reveal the UK’s most sought-after coins in circulation in the last three months, the Mirror reports.
The Scarcity Index does not necessarily equate to value but it is "certainly an effective indicator", the website says. Although new 50p coins have been issued into circulation for the Platinum Jubilee weekend and the anniversary of pride, it is too early to say what impact these will have. But for now, the current list of popular coins have been issued as such:

50p coins
One of the rarest coins is a Kew Gardens 50p, with some coins selling for as much as £250. The coin was released in 2009 to mark 250 years since Kew Gardens opened in 1759 and the Royal Mint estimate around 210,000 were made. It features the famous Chinese Pagoda at the Royal Botanic Garden on the tails side with the Queen's face as normal on the other.
The next most sought-after coin is the 2011 triathlon 50p, which has climbed five places on the Index. It was released as part of the 2012 London Olympics collection, there are around 1,163,500 of these in circulation.
These have been seen selling for around £11 online but have been given a collector’s value of £8.25. Following that is the Football coin and the Wrestling coin.
The Paddington at the Palace 50p has also climbed an impressive 14 places with a price range of between £1.24 and £1.43. Also up 14 places on the index is the 2016 Team GB 50p coin.
10p coins
The 10p list is made of the alphabet A to Z collection, released in 2018 and 2019 to celebrate all things British. There are 26 coins for the 26 letters in the alphabet and there are only 304,000 of each design in circulation.
The whole uncirculated collection could be purchased for £52 from The Royal Mint when it was first released. The rarest letter appears to be R for Robin, featuring a robin sitting on the letter with snowflakes around it.
The second most popular letter is W, for World Wide Web,, with around 283,000 issued for circulation in 2018. These have been spotted in recent weeks selling for as much as £5.
Also appearing to be popular is the Z coin for Zebra Crossing and the Y coin for Yeoman Warder. Elsewhere on the index is the Fish and Chips 10p coin, which has climbed eight spots, and the Postbox and Union Jack 10p coins.
But according to Change Checker, regardless of where they feature in the above index, if you have any of the A-Z 10ps in your collection you should consider yourself very lucky. A maximum of only 304,000 of each design entered circulation.
£2 coins
The rarest £2 coin appears to be from the 2022 Commonwealth Games collection. The most sought-after is the Northern Ireland version, followed by Scotland and England.
The Northern Ireland version, of which there are 485,500 in circulation, are currently seen selling for around £50 on eBay. The England and Scotland editions could fetch around £17 to £20 on eBay.
Other popular £2 coins include the Wireless Transmission £2, honouring Guglielmo Marconi, which have been seen fetching up to £10. Around 4,558,000 have entered circulation since 1997 and this coin is considered quite rare.
