Rapper Offset hospitalised after being shot outside Florida casino

Rapper Offset is in a stable condition after being shot in Florida on Monday, with police confirming that two people have been detained.

The former Migos member, whose real name is Kiari Kendrell Cephus, was injured in a valet area outside the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, according to his spokesperson.

The incident is understood to have taken place shortly after 7pm.

“We can confirm Offset was shot and is currently at the hospital receiving medical care. He is stable and being closely monitored,” a representative told Variety.

Seminole County police said the injuries were not life-threatening and that the rapper was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital for treatment.

“We are aware of an incident that occurred at a valet area after 7 pm Monday outside of Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood that resulted in non-life threatening injuries to an individual who was transported to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood,” the authorities said in a statement to TMZ.

They added that officers were “on site immediately” and the situation was “contained quickly”.

Local police said two people were detained by police and officials are investigating the incident.

“Two individuals have been detained by police. The investigation is ongoing. The site is secure and there is no threat to the public. Operations continue as normal.”

The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear.

Offset, 34, rose to prominence as one third of Atlanta rap trio Migos, alongside Quavo and Takeoff.

Formed in 2008, the group became one of the defining acts of the past decade, scoring major hits including Bad and Boujee and earning Grammy nominations for albums such as 2017’s Culture.

The group disbanded in 2022 following the death of Takeoff, who was shot and killed aged 28 outside a bowling alley in Houston after a private party. The accused, Patrick Clark, has pleaded not guilty and is due to stand trial later this year.

Offset married fellow rapper Cardi B in a private ceremony in Atlanta in 2017.

The couple share three children and separated in 2024. He also has three children from previous relationships.
