NAGPUR: Deciding to bat in conditions favourable to swing bowling, a team’s fortunes depend on batters applying themselves to see off the tricky initial phase. Vidarbha’s batting line-up failed to do so. After being bundled out for 170 in just over two sessions of Day 1, Vidarbha now have a mountain to climb in the Ranji Trophy semifinal against Madhya Pradesh.

With all the time in the world at their disposal, Madhya Pradesh finished the opening day on 47 for 1 in 20 overs.
