Rangers target former Aberdeen midfielder for 'potential pre-contract agreement'

Rangers are reported to be weighing up a move for Scotland international Kenny McLean.

The Norwich City midfielder, who hails from Cambuslang, came through the Ibrox youth system and has spoken previously of his desire to make a return to Govan.

He has been linked with a return home in the past two seasons, but the Scottish Daily Express report the 30-year-old is on Rangers' radar again with the club considering "a potential pre-contract agreement" as McLean is out of contract with the Canaries at the end of the season.

The ex-Aberdeen star helped Scotland qualify for last summer's delayed Euro 2020 competition. He won his 25th cap for Scotland in March against Poland and has so far made 28 appearances for his country.

He is a regular at Carrow Road but the chance to feature for his boyhood heroes would be a big lure.

He previously told the Athletic: "I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t something I’d want to do. As a kid that’s what you want to do, play for your boyhood team.

"For me and my family, it would be pretty special.

“I grew up a Rangers fan, used to go to the games with my dad and as a kid in Glasgow, you support Rangers or Celtic and you want to play for one of them. So, I was on the better side.”
