Rangers pub Bristol Bar tells customers 'we're still here' amid liquidation concern

A Glasgow pub popular with Rangers fans has shrugged off liquidation concerns with the announcement of upcoming events.

Bristol Bar on Duke Street has been issued with a notice asking for it to be wound up by the Court with a liquidator to be appointed if no action is taken.

But just a few days after the notice appeared, the Dennistoun bar reopened following a refurbishment and has told customers "we're still here".

The pub reopened over the weekend with celebrations spilling out onto the street. Speaking about the refurbishment, the owners said: "The main objective from the refurb was to install air conditioning and fix the floor but we added a few wee extras, painted it top to bottom and reupholstered most of the seats while we had the opportunity.

"Thanks again to everyone near and far that's visited and supported us we could not do it without you guys."

According to Companies House, the company which owns the bar has been issued with a compulsory strike-off notice five times since 2010 that have later been discontinued. The first Gazette notices are issued when a company fails to submit its accounts on time, pay tax, or doesn't inform Companies House of a new corporate address.

They then have two months to show evidence to the contrary before being struck off.

An advertisement of the petition appeared in the Metro newspaper, from Frances Ennis, Petitioner's Agent for Bellwether Green Solicitors, and stated: "Notice is hereby given that on 12th June 2023 a Petition was presented to the Sheriff at Glasgow by Bristol Bar (Glasgow) Ltd having their registered office at 600 Duke Street, Glasgow, G31 1JX ('the Company') craving the Court inter alia that the Company be wound up by the Court and that an interim liquidator be appointed in which Petition the Sheriff at Glasgow by interlocutor dated 12th June 2023 appointed all persons having an interest to lodge.

"Answers in the hands of the Sheriff Clerk at Glasgow within eight days after intimation, service or advertisement."
