Jermain Defoe’s wedding earlier this month was the invite of the year for many - but there were some players whose absences from the bash raised eyebrows.
Rangers stars were noticeably absent from any pictures shared on social media as the 39-year-old England striker tied the knot with Scots beautician Donna Tierney in an extravagant ceremony at Cliveden House in Berkshire.
While many of the Ibrox star’s closest friends and family were in attendance, all of his ex-Rangers teammates were said to be absent from the occasion, reported the Daily Record.

Defoe’s closest pals at Rangers, Joe Aribo and Glen Kamara, were representing their countries at the time of the wedding.
Two members of admin staff were said to be the only Rangers representatives at the lavish event.
The source said: “He made a lot of good pals at Rangers but the timing wasn’t good. As soon as the season is done all the players go away on holiday.
“You had some guys in Dubai and other in Ibiza. Other international players still hadn’t finished their seasons so couldn’t go.
“The only two folk from Rangers who went were the players’ PA and a receptionist.”
