Rangers have opened talks with Atalanta for striker Sam Lammers and are confident they can team him up with Cremonese’s Cyriel Dessers.
The Light Blues are in talks with both Italian clubs to try to seal deals for their frontmen. Michael Beale has prioritised the two forwards to spearhead his Ibrox revolution for next season. Atlanta are ready to sell Lammers because he has struggled to nail down a regular first-team slot in the last three seasons, having been out on loan at Eintracht Frankfurt, Empoli and Sampdoria in recent seasons.
Talks have been opened at around the £3million mark. Lammers was part of the Bundesliga’s squad who denied Rangers in last season’s Europa League final. The Dutchman came through the ranks at PSV Eindhoven and really shone in a loan spell to Heerenveen, where he won his move to Italy off the back of that goal-filled switch. Lammers struggled to make an impact at Sampdoria this season, who were relegated to Serie B along with Cremonese.
Record Sport broke the story on Monday Rangers had tabled a bid for Nigerian international Dessers and were in talks with Cremonese. The Italians had initially claimed they wanted more than the £6.5million they paid to get Dessers from Genk last summer.
It is believed they are now ready to drop those demands. Italian sources claim that Rangers offer is close to £5m with add ons. Italian reports have claimed the deal has been agreed but sources close to the deal say the finer details still need to be thrashed out.
Rangers are also still in dialogue with Los Angeles FC over a deal for Jose Cifuentes. They are confident a deal will be closed very soon to see the Ecuadorian move to Glasgow. The 24-year-old is out of contract in the summer and has agreed terms on a move to Rangers.
