Rangers not lifting trophy 'unthinkable' says Michael Beale as he makes 'big probability' confession

Michael Beale says it is UNTHINKABLE that Rangers end the season without a trophy.

The new Light Blues boss will walk out at Hampden later today as he bids to reach the Viaplay Cup Final - with rivals Celtic awaiting the winner of today's last four clash with Aberdeen after their 2-0 success over Kilmarnock last night. The Hoops are the current holders of the competition after Ange Postecoglou lifted the crown as his first triumph last term.

Beale says Rangers need to be winning the trophies up for grabs as there is a 'big probability' that they would end up across Glasgow otherwise. The Ibrox gaffer is adamant nobody at the club wants that to happen and has expressed the importance of trying to win every trophy that is up for grabs. He said: “Is it unthinkable not to win something this season? For the players, yes. When you start the season, there’s three trophies up for grabs.

“It’s unthinkable they’d go elsewhere because there’s a big probability they’ll only go to Celtic if they don’t come here.

“We don’t want that, we have had to live that before. It’s important we try to win every trophy that’s in front of us.

“Players are playing for their futures. That’s not me saying that because I’m a new manager and I’m judge and jury — it’s their contract situation.

“They deserve a little credit up to this stage but we know the next week is a tough week. Since I came in, it seems like every game’s must-win because of where we are in the league.

“This weekend it’s a semi-final, the first trophy on offer this season and we want it to come back to Ibrox. For some of my players, they’ve won the League and Scottish Cup, so it’s an opportunity to complete their set.

“You don’t know when the next opportunity is going to come, whether they’re going to be here in a year’s time or have that opportunity because you don’t pick the draw.

“I wish we could, because one or two get easier draws than us!”
