Rangers linked Nicolas Raskin faces Standard Liege mutiny as he's banished from first team

Rangers target Nicolas Raskin has been ordered by Standard Liege chiefs to stop training with the first team - opening up the door for a move to Ibrox.

Raskin was heavily linked with a move to Glasgow on deadline day in summer, though a move failed to come to fruition and the ship appeared to have sailed with the youngster featuring just days after in a 1-0 win over KV Oostende. The 21-year-old has since featured in every single game for the Belgian giants, registering four assists and one goal as they sit seventh in the table on the hunt for a European place. But according to Foot Mercato, Raskin has been ordered to train away from the first team as a result of interest in his services - opening the door for a move to Rangers in the coming window.

The report states that Raskin, who is available on a free transfer this summer, has been dismissed by manager Ronny Deila - famed in Scotland for his time at Celtic - and will now train on his own until his future is resolved elsewhere.

His career at Liege has been dogged by contract uncertainty, amid reports that the Belgian outfit had handed him a deadline to sign a new contract with that effort evidently not being taken up by the youngster.

The Light Blues had looked at him as a replacement for Glen Kamara should the Finnish star have left for OGC Nice, but again that was a move that didn't come to fruition. Rangers currently sit nine points behind Celtic in the race for the Scottish Premiership title after Callum McGregor scored a late goal against Aberdeen on Saturday midday.

Reports in Belgium have suggested the Ibrox side have revived their interest in January. However, the player's agent has stated an approach has yet to be made ahead of the winter window.
