Scott Nisbet has revealed how he was terrified of going under the knife for cancer treatment because his sister died after surgery for the same illness. The Rangers hero was worried he wouldn’t survive a life-saving operation after Debra Cook died in intensive care.
She suffered complications which led to her passing away with the former Light Blues star at her bedside. Scott said Debra’s death preyed on his mind when he was told he needed an emergency op to remove a kidney after medics found four tumours.
The 54-year-old said: “I was really worried about the operation because of how Debra died. What happened to my sister will stay with me for the rest of my life and I was scared the same thing would happen to me. It was a straightforward operation that she should’ve survived.
