Ally McCoist has opened up on the 'dog's abuse' he got from the Celtic support at Hampden following the League Cup Final.
The Rangers hero was on pundit duty alongside Chris Sutton and Gordon Strachan at the national stadium as Ange Postecoglou and his troops retained the Viaplay Cup. Kyogo Furuhashi was the hero on the day as his double secured a 2-1 win. Alfredo Morelos did net for the Light Blues but his goal wasn't enough to stop Michael Beale from losing his first game in charge since taking over from Giovanni van Bronckhorst.
It was an afternoon on the pitch to forget for McCoist and his misery was compounded further as he had to walk through the Celtic faithful from the commentary box at full-time to take his place on the panel standing just above pitch level. He was then joined by winning boss Postecoglou at full-time and he could not resist firing a joke at the Ibrox legend in reference to his comment about driving him to England.
Opening up on the unseen journey, McCoist reckons he was in the 'worst position in Glasgow' following Rangers' defeat in the showpiece.
He told the talkSPORT breakfast show: "Can you imagine my journey down from the commentary booth? I had to go through the Celtic fans, I got absolute dog's abuse.
"You wouldn't have seen it, but at the end of the game I am positioned right between big Ange and Gordon (Strachan) and Sutton as well to make matters worse. There could not have been a worse position in Glasgow than I was in at the end of that game, and I had to sit there and take it. You have to go down and take your medicine."
Celtic-daft co-host Alan Brazil responded: "It was just one of those brilliant days. Don't get me wrong, Rangers got back into it. They had that wee chance when two of them mis-controlled it, but first half Celtic controlled it.
"Listen, there is still a lot to play for. It's probably a deserved win, but Rangers will be disappointed because they can play better than that. The Treble is still well and truly on."
