Rangers fans have been told their numbers may be limited to just 750 for the trip to face Borussia Dortmund.
The Europa League draw threw up a mouth-watering clash with the Bundesliga giants, with supporters dreaming of a trip to the 81,000-seater Westfalenstadion.
However, the omicron Covid-19 variant has seen Germany impose new restrictions on mass events, with authorities limiting visiting numbers to just 750.
Rangers would have expected to take a huge following to see Gio van Bronckhorst's side test their mettle against the likes of Erling Haaland, but as things stand most will be watching from home.
And the club have admitted their frustration while underlining they remain in talks to allow more to be present.
A statement said: " Rangers remain in regular dialogue with Borussia Dortmund, UEFA and the authorities in North-Rhein Westphalia.
"As it stands, a maximum of only 750 supporters are permitted to attend football matches in the state. The situation may evolve between now and matchday with other states moving at different speeds, and we will endeavour to keep our supporters up-to-date on any developments.
"It goes without saying we fully understand and empathise with the frustration our supporters are finding in this matter given the significance and standing of the fixture."
