Rangers fan trolled after garden makeover goes badly wrong

A Rangers fan has been trolled on social media after a bid to paint his garden in flag colours ahead of Wednesday's Europa League final went horribly wrong.

George Douglas, of Coalburn, South Lanarkshire, gave his home a full Gers makeover ahead of the Ibrox club's defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt.

The 32-year-old adorned his house with Union Jack flags and bunting as well as Rangers crests and a number of messages of support, including "Make us dream", in blue and white paint across his garden slabs.

The dad-of-two also painted his grass red, white and blue for the occasion - but social media users were quick to point out that the colours did not quite depict the colours of the Union Jack, reports The Daily Record.

Heather Gail Thomson commented: "Looks more like green white and gold to me".

While Stephen O’Donnell said: “That's deffo Green White and Gold.”

Meanwhile, John Mceachen said: "You can paint the grass whatever colour you like, but it is still GREEN!"

And Ann O'malley chimed in with a different perspective, asking: "Ivory Coast supporter?"

Rangers daft George went to great lengths to jazz up his lawn in the club's famous colours - using a paint roller to get the job done.

He also borrowed a ladder off a friend to hang the flag above his living room window.

But he admitted that his daughters, Mirren, 11, and Keavie, eight, were less than impressed when they arrived home from school to the bright overhaul.

George told LanarkshireLive : "I actually had a roller, I was out painting it.

"That took me about two hours because the roller isn’t designed to paint grass.

“It turned out better than what I was expecting. But the rain’s had a bit of an effect so I’ll have to go out again and touch it up.

“My kids weren’t too best pleased yesterday when they came home and saw me painting the grass.

"I think they were more shocked. It was a case of ‘aw what are you doing now’, probably a bit of embarrassment.

“I normally put my bunting and flags out but I decided to step it up this time just because of the size of the game."
