Rangers fan suffers heart attack on flight to Seville

A Rangers fan suffered a heart attack on a flight to Seville to see his side taking on Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League final.

The unnamed supporter was kept alive thanks to the quick reactions of a Rangers-supporting doctor who was also on the flight and rushed to his aid.

The 70-year-old endured the health scare on a Corporate Travel Management (CTM) day trip service to the Andalusian city.

A club insider said: "The man was kept conscious and he is okay, he's still alive.

"But obviously he's had a heart attack so it's very serious and was a big scare for him and his family.

"Luckily there was another fan on the flight who's a doctor.

"He rushed to help him and looked after him on the flight.

"It's the best outcome everyone could have hoped for in the circumstances.

"Hopefully he is well enough to still catch the game and gets the result we are all hoping for."

Meanwhile the five German fans who were arrested for attacking Rangers fans are due to be kept behind bars until after tonight's show piece tie.

The source added: "These were Frankfurt casuals attacking normal Rangers fans, just random punters.

"It was a spontaneous attack on fans they saw in the city, it wasn't a planned ambush of another hooligan group."

CTM was contacted for comment.
