Rangers drawn against Man Utd and face Postecoglou in Europa League

Rangers will face Manchester United and Tottenham in the Europa League group stage, with trips to Romania and Sweden also on the cards.

As part of the new and revamped UEFA club competition, Philippe Clement's side have been drawn to face eight separate opponents in single-leg features as opposed to three double-headers.

Teams will take part in one overall league table as opposed to separate groups. The top eight in the league progress straight to the last 16, while those finishing ninth to 24th enter a two-legged knockout playoff for a chance to join them.

Rangers' eight fixtures are as follows:

  •  Tottenham (H)
  • Man Utd (A)
  • Lyon (H)
  • Olympiacos (A)
  • Union SG (H)
  • Malmo (A)
  • FSBC (H)
  • Nice (A)

Clement's side start the competition by facing former Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou before a glamour tie to Old Trafford to face Manchester United.

Lyon then visit Glasgow, who Rangers last faced in the competition in 2021 on their way to the final, before Clement's men travel to Greece to face Olympiacos. The two sides last met in a friendly before the 2023/24 campaign kicked off.

The next round of fixtures sees a meeting with Union Saint-Gilloise, another side that the Ibrox club have faced in recent years. The Belgian outfit lost 3-2 on aggregate against Giovanni van Bronckhorst's team on their way to the Champions League in the summer of 2022.

Malmo too have history with Rangers - an Antonio Colak double sent Steven Gerrard's team out of the Champions League qualifiers the summer before.

To close off matters, Clement's team will face Romanian outfit FCSB at home and Nice in France.

Meanwhile, Rangers are in talks to sign Feyenoord defender Neraysho Kasanwirjo.

The 22-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Rapid Wein in Austria, is capable of playing at right-back or centre-back and has also featured at the base of midfield and as a left-back during his career.

Todd Cantwell is undergoing a medical at Blackburn Rovers ahead of his return to the English Championship.
