Rangers are in talks with UEFA amid "ongoing uncertainty" over Tuesday's Champions League clash with Napoli.
Domestic football in Scotland has been postponed this weekend as a mark of respect following the Queen's passing. The Ibrox side were due to travel away to play Aberdeen on Saturday but a joint SPFL and SFA statement confirmed earlier on Friday that the game, plus all other professional fixtures across the country, would not take place.
Up next for Giovanni van Bronckhorst 's side is a group stage showdown with the Serie A side at Ibrox but with no date yet confirmed for Queen Elizabeth II's funeral and the UK in a period of official mourning, questions have been raised over whether the fixture would go ahead. And now Rangers have issued a statement saying that, as things stand, plans to play the match have not changed but they are holding discussions with UEFA amid "policing and resource pressures".
The statement said: "At this difficult time for the United Kingdom, we are cognisant of ongoing uncertainty regarding supporter arrangements and travel plans for next week.
"We are aware of policing and resource pressures, especially on Tuesday, 13th September. We can confirm that discussions are taking place between UEFA, Police Scotland and Rangers regarding our scheduled UEFA Champions League fixture v Napoli on Tuesday, 13th September.
"As present, the game is scheduled to take place at the scheduled date and time."
